Football Transfers
TRANFERS IN FOOTBALL
The Transfer
market is a huge part of football today.
Transition windows are the periods of the
year where the clubs are allowed to buy new players from other clubs. Clubs can
make deals on transfers during other periods
of the year.
The system has been used
in many leagues before FIFA made it mandatory in 2002. FIFA decided that there would
be two Transition windows, one longer between seasons and another one after a
half played season. The FA decides for each
league when the dates is for the Transition windows. It is different times of
the year for different leagues, in Norway it is between 1 January and 15. April and in England it’s between 1.July and 31.
August. This can be different for all leagues.

his name on. This tells us how important and luxury
sponsors can be.
Biggest Transfers
The biggest transfer of all time is the transfer of Gareth Bale; he went
from an English club called Tottenham to
Real Madrid for around 100 million dollars! there is a huge difference between the transfers now
and earlier. In 1928 they made a transfer of a player called David Jack, he
played for a club called Bolton. The English club called Arsenal was the club
that wanted to sign him. Arsenal was supposed to pay 14 thousand dollar. But
the manager of Arsenal got the Bolton representatives drunk and Arsenal ended
up paying 10 thousand dollar. This was the biggest transfer of all time. And
now the clubs pay around 30-50 million dollars in a normal transfer! Money has
become a much bigger part of football today.

Step by step transfers
There are about 9 steps to make a transfer.
These steps go from Scouting to signing.
1. The scouting
The club that is looking
for a new player starts to scout. They scout for the players that can fit their
team the best, they scout for players all over the world. They use a program
called Scout7. This program contains a huge database of players from all over
the world. Scout7 can tell you good and bad things about a player, in game
analyses, footage of playtime and much more. This has become a crucial thing
for scouting.
2.
The bid
Once the player has been
identified, the next step is to place a bid on a player. This is pretty much
straightforward.
3.
Tapping up?
Premier League rules
state that ‘’ a player under contract shall not directly
or indirectly make any approach to another club without having obtained the
prior written consent of the existing club to who he is contracted.’’ This
means that all transfer deals should be started from scratch.
4.
The negotiation
In the negotiation, they
negotiate about the player’s contract and their transfer fee. They basically slide paper to each other saying that they
want a bigger amount of money for their player, or that the player wants
another salary per month or another contract.
5.
The players’ dilemma
The players often have
dilemmas about moving to another club. They might not like the points in the
contract, maybe they want guaranteed playtime or they don’t like the trainer. Some even have to move to play for their new
club, and this might cause problems for the
rest of the family.
6.
The agents
The agents are a really important part of the game.
The agents can be used by clubs to identify player, or to find new clubs for
the players that they are trying to sell. The agents often have a huge network
of connection making these steps much easier.
7.
The media
This is really much a
love-hate relationship. They love it because the stories keep them knee-deep in
copy, but hate it because sifting through the garbage is an arduous and often
disheartening process. The media spreads many rumours about the transfer market.
If they get their little smelly nose on something,
they publish it right away on the internet
or in newspapers. This makes us curious. But you have to be aware, really often
these rumours are not real.
8.
The medical and the work permit

The work permit is also
another important part of the deal. A football player has the same rules as
another job, he got to have permission to work in that country that he is going to play in. If not, they have
to fix it or, he can’t play for that club.
9.
DONE DEAL!
And there you have it.
When all these parts are done, the player is ready to
move to his new club. The only part that remains is the moving of the player,
and of course the obligatory smiling photo of the player with his new manager,
and his new club’s shirt.
